Hidalgo County Courthouse Ribbon Cutting

May 2, 2025

Yesterday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the New Hidalgo County Courthouse. Hidalgo County leaders in attendance included Precinct 4 Commissioner Elle Torres (pictured), Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes, and Judge Richard F. Cortez.

The seven-story, 321,000-square-foot building is a major step forward for the county’s justice system and features 24 courtrooms, separate entry points for public access, judges, and inmate defendants, along with a holding facility that can accommodate up to 750 inmates.
